The final READ 180 Follow-Up will take place on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at USC Davidson Center. The PD will start at 8:00 AM and end at 3:00 PM.

Superintendent Brewer Visits Franklin HS

Superintendent Brewer and guests visited Franklin High School on Wednesday, 3/12/08, to observe a READ 180 classroom in action. Mr. Stephané Joyet was kind enough to open the doors of his Period 1 & 2 classroom for the Superintendent. The visitors observed two rotations, interacted with the students, and asked Mr. Joyet about the program.

Congratulations and thanks to Franklin HS, Principal Luis Lopez, Mr. Joyet, and his students for a wonderful visit!

Peace Over Violence Contest

Students losing focus as spring approaches? Why not encourage them to enter  the LAUSD’s Peace Over Violence Contest? This opportunity allows you and your students to increase your awareness that sexual violence is a violation of human rights, and allow them to become social activists.

2008-09 Placement Memo

The Assessment and Placement of Students, Grades 5-10, for Intervention Program, DRWC, MEM-4097.0 is now available via Inside LAUSD.  If you require assistance with administering the Degrees of Reading Power (DRP), please contact your DRWC Expert/Specialist.

Please note that students assigned to PRP status after January 2007 should not be assessed for DRWC (see Scheduling Secondary English Learners and Staffing memo for details).

Follow-Up #3 for New LANGUAGE! Teachers

The third and final Follow-Up for LANGUAGE! teachers who were trained in August or September will take place as follows:

Teachers trained in July or August - Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Teachers trained in September - Thursday, February 21, 2008

The training will take place at The Wilshire Grand (7th & Figueroa), from 8:00 – 3:00. Continental breakfast and lunch will be served. Parking will be validated.
